I’m 24 years old and I make $50,000 as an Account Manager in South Florida

2019.10.10 15:32 gogators95 I’m 24 years old and I make $50,000 as an Account Manager in South Florida

Section One: Assets and Debt
Retirement balance (and how you got there): $7,800 in my Roth IRA and $3,800 in my SIMPLE IRA with work. I work for a small business (5 employees), so my company offers a SIMPLE IRA as our pretax retirement plan. I have been contributing to my Roth IRA since I was 21, but have been contributing more aggressively in the past year ($350/month). I contribute 10% of my pretax income to my SIMPLE IRA and my employer matches 3%.
Savings Account Balance: $12,100 in my down payment savings account, and $4,500 in my Emergency Fund.
Health Savings Account: $1300
Investments: N/A outside of my retirement accounts currently
Checking Account Balance: $1200 in my checking account.
Credit Card Debt: $0 recurring - I put all of the expenses that I can on credit cards and pay off the entire balance monthly. I have always had an interest in churning so I have multiple credit cards and utilize different ones depending on what kind of purchase I am making. I have never paid interest on my credit card balance.
Student Loans: N/A. I went to an in-state public school which helped a lot. My first two years were funded by my parents who had been saving for my college since I was little (thanks Mom and Dad!). I also received some scholarships, and used my part-time job to fund the next two years.
Car Loan: $3700. I purchased a 2016 Ford Fusion this year (my first car purchase!) and took out a loan of about $5000. I plan to have this paid off by June of next year.
Section Two: Income
Monthly Take Home: $2718 after deductions
Pre-tax deductions:
SIMPLE IRA - $192.31
Health insurance - $0 - My company pays for 100% of my employee only coverage (HDHP) and contributes $1000/year into my HSA (prorated for this year since we switched to this HDHP in June 2019).
Health Savings Account - $50
Section Three: Expenses
Monthly Expenses
Rent: $725 - my half of the rent for a 2B2BA apartment I live in with my boyfriend.
Power bill: $50 - also split with my boyfriend
Savings contribution: At least $500/month split between various savings goals
Cellphone: $50
Hulu Live: $46 - instead of cable. I pay for this and my boyfriend pays for the internet.
Donation to local charities (charity rotates monthly): $30
Gym membership - $23.49
Car Loan: - $200/month (minimum is $139/month)
Annual Expenses:
Universal Studios annual pass: ~$250
Renter’s insurance: $90
Car insurance: $1750 - went up recently since I got a newer car
Section Four: Money Diary
Day 1 - Tuesday
6:00 AM - My boyfriend (M) wakes up at this ungodly hour, gives me a quick goodbye kiss, and heads to work. I immediately go back to sleep. This happens every morning. :)
7:30 AM - I wake up when my alarm goes off and get ready for work. I listen to my audio book, Sisters In Law by Linda Hirshman, while brushing my teeth and flossing. I went to the dentist yesterday, so I am temporarily inspired but rest assured this is not something I normally do. I do a little bit of makeup and get dressed, then I am out the door. I work very close to home (~10 min) so I usually don’t wake up much earlier than I need to. I also don’t eat breakfast during the week.
8:30 AM - My work day begins. I grab a cup of coffee, and then I start the morning off with a few spreadsheets I am working on for various clients. I work with my company’s strategic accounts and handle all of their benefits advising. Today I am comparing a few different health insurance plans for a local large school that we work with so that I can have a meeting with them later this week.
12:30 PM - My eyes are glazing over from staring at Excel all morning. Time for lunch! I head home for lunch as I do most days. One of the benefits at my job is an hour and 15 minute paid lunch that is counted as part of our 8 hour work day (pretty awesome, right?). I make myself a sandwich and put on some Rick & Morty. My kitties come sit with me so I give them some love before I head back to the office.
1:45 PM - Back to work! I have two conference calls with clients that last longer than expected. I have some cashews as a snack between the calls.
4:00 PM - I leave my office a little early to swing by one of my clients to say hi. I stay and chat with their HR Director for a bit, and then I head home.
5:00 PM - I say hi to M and we chat a bit about how our days have been while I get dressed to go to the gym.
5:45 PM - I go to the gym and take the lower body class that I attend with my friend G every week. The instructor is super fun and the music is great. My lower body is ON FIRE by the time it is over.
7:00 PM - I get back home, and M and I make chicken for dinner. I also dice up some sweet potatoes, throw some seasoning on them, and pop them in the oven. We watch the Voice and relax until it is bedtime.
10:00 PM - Time for bed!
Daily total - $0
Day 2 - Wednesday
7:30 AM - I wake up and get ready. I floss again today! Look at me go.
8:30 AM - I get to work and immediately make a coffee. I then sit down and start to prep kits for a meeting/presentation I will be attending later in the day. I will be presenting the employee benefits to a group of new hires at one of our clients’ facilities, so I spend most of the morning reviewing their plans and printing out summaries for each new hire.
12:30 PM - Take a quick lunch break where I make a sandwich and relax for a bit.
1:30 PM - I get back to the office, pack up my briefcase, and drive over to my client’s facility. I exchange pleasantries with some of the higher ups and then I make my rounds to say hi to the new employees and provide them with kits as they are entering. I begin my presentation, which goes very well and lasts about an hour and a half with questions. I help some of the employees fill out their enrollment forms before I leave and collect a few from people who already know which plans they would like to enroll in.
3:30 PM - I leave the client and head back to my office. I drop off the forms I collected and honestly don’t accomplish much more before the end of the day.
4:30 PM - Time to head home, woo! I fill gas on my way. ($25.58)
5:00 PM - I walk in the door and say hi to M. Wednesday night is date night so we are both excited. I get changed quickly into workout clothes and go to the gym for about an hour. I do my normal Wednesday strength training routine and then 15 minutes of cardio as a bonus.
6:30 PM - I get home and shower. I get all pretty for date night and roll my eyes as M strolls out wearing a workout top (I’m pretty sure he does this just to mess with me these days). I ask him to change into something a little nicer because effort goes a long way. He makes a couple jokes and then gets changed.
7:00 PM - We get to dinner at one of our favorite Thai spots nearby. I order a glass of wine and M gets a beer. We order pad thai and a curry dish, and decide to split them. We also get an order of spring rolls. So yummy! We have some great conversations that just reaffirm how much I love him. I really am thankful for him every day! Dinner costs us $52.14 with tip, which we split evenly. ($26.07)
9:00 PM - We make it home, relax for a bit and then head to bed around 11.
Daily total - $51.65
Day 3 - Thursday
7:30 AM - I wake up, do my normal routine (+ floss, which I can’t say is normal for me yet), and head to work.
8:30 AM - I get to the office and have a few things to take care of right away. I plug away at some spreadsheets for about an hour and a half.
10:00 AM - We have our internal weekly office meeting among my team where we all update each other on our progress. We do this to hold each other accountable and also because all of us are cross-trained on each other’s accounts in case anyone is out of the office for extended periods of time. It helps us to keep up with all of the clients that our office has and to make us feel more connected as a team. The meeting lasts until about lunch time because we goof off a little bit as we talk about work.
12:30 PM - I head home for lunch. Make myself a sandwich and heat up some lentil soup to go with it. Super yummy. I relax and read some of my book.
2:00 PM - I get back to the office and do a little bit of work but mostly play around with my budget. I have a ridiculous spreadsheet that I keep for all of my financial records. I spend at least an hour or so on it every couple of days because I find that it helps to keep me accountable.
4:30 PM - Time to go home! I decide to swing by Goodwill on my way home to look for a couple more things I need. They recently introduced a new program at my local chain of Goodwills where if you buy a $25 membership, you get 25% off all purchases for the year! Well worth it because I spend most of my clothing budget at Goodwill. One of my goals for this year was to stop buying new clothing unless I literally cannot find it at a secondhand store (exceptions being underwear and bathing suits, although there is nothing necessarily wrong with buying them secondhand - just not my preference). I look around for a while and end up finding a cute dress for and some black jeans which I have been needing. ($7.98)
5:30 PM - I get home and say hi to M, who is playing some video games. I ask him to let me know when he finishes up his game so that we can do a bit of tidying up around the house. I put on some music and get a load of laundry started. I then go to the kitchen and start wiping down the counters when M joins me and starts to help. We have come a long way after I read up a bunch on “the mental load” and the unfair burden that women face when it comes to housework/chores. I think it is really important for partnerships to truly be equal, and so does M but it takes a conscious effort to break out of that cycle. M has always been helpful but he used to expect me to tell him what to do around the house and now he really takes initiative and just cleans without me having to ask him. It is a give and take, like anything else in a relationship.
6:30 PM - We finish tidying up and start to make dinner. M dices up some vegetables to roast, and I prep the chicken. We tend to eat some variation of chicken and veggies most nights that we cook at home, but it is one of my favorite meals so no complaints here. We pop everything in the oven and watch some TV while we wait.
7:00 PM - Dinner is ready and we devour our food. We put on Hercules to watch because it is on Hulu and we can’t think of anything else. We both sing along and enjoy the evening together.
9:45 PM - We head to bed.
Daily total - $7.98
Day 4 - Friday
7:00 AM - I wake up and do my morning routine. I’m up a little early today so that I can get into the office at 8 and leave at 4. My boss is pretty flexible with occasional schedule adjustments as long as we finish all of our pressing tasks.
8:00 AM - I get into the office and make a coffee. I chat with my coworkers a bit and then I sit down and get to work. It is Friday and I have an exciting weekend of college football ahead of me, so I’m not feeling very motivated to be honest. I get a few things done but spend most of the morning scrolling reddit and playing around online.
12:30 PM - Lunch time! I packed a sandwich to keep at the office so that I could run through Publix on my break. I pick up supplies for this weekend (2 cases of beer, 1 case of hard seltzer, a large bag of chips). $ 53.97
1:45 PM - I’m back to work - I have a couple things left to accomplish before I leave, so I get started. Only a few more hours until freedom!
4:00 PM - I’m free!!!! We are heading up to my college town for the weekend to go tailgate, watch football, and hang out with college friends so I am super excited. I run home to finish packing up the car, and M and I get on the road. We put down a bunch of food and water for our kitties. We have 2 and they do very well over the weekend by themselves. If we leave for longer, we will have friends come by. Honestly I think they love when they get the house to themselves for a few days, haha.
6:00 PM - We stop for dinner at a Chick Fil A about two hours north of us. I get my usual- 12 piece chicken nuggets, waffle fries, and a large lemonade. I also get honey mustard on the side ($11.74). So yummy.
9:00 PM - We finally make it to Gainesville. We are staying with my best friend K who is still in school finishing up her PhD program. It is so nice to see her. We go to bed after quickly catching up -- we have an early morning tomorrow.
Daily total - $65.71
Day 5 - Saturday
4:30 AM - Yep, you read that right. My alarm goes off and I am immediately tempted to go back to bed. But it is game day!! We have to get to campus super early to secure a tailgating spot. It gets pretty crazy on game days but it is always worth it. We load up the coolers with ice, beer, etc and get on the road.
5:30 AM - We make it to campus and find a perfect spot that is unoccupied. Score! We meet up with a couple other friends who help us set up our tents and chairs and then we relax. It’ll be a while before anyone else shows up - we volunteered to help set up so we are here early but most people are not so crazy.
11:00 AM - People start showing up! I’m already a couple mimosas deep at this point as are most of my friends who have been at the tailgate since 5:30. It is really great to see all of my old and new friends. I love going back to visit because I always end up meeting new people.
12:00 PM - Play a game of beer pong with my girl K. We win! We stay on the table for a couple rounds until we eventually lose. At some point I eat a pub sub but I’m not sure where it came from.
2:00 PM - We start to get our stuff packed up for the tailgate. The whole set up does not need to be dismantled since a lot of people will be staying here during the game. But we are getting ready to head to the stadium, so we load our stuff into our car.
2:45 PM - We walk toward the stadium - kickoff is at 3:30! We want to make sure we have time to get to our seats and get some water.
3:30 PM - Kickoff! We are playing Auburn - it was an incredible game. I’ll spare you the details because you can look them up, but we did win. :) We had lots of fun!!
7:30 PM - We head out of the stadium. It takes about an hour and a half to get home between walking back to our car and then navigating the craziness that is campus after a game. My friend K has some food for us so that we wouldn’t have to deal with eating out on game day. It’s nothing fancy - just some stuff to make sandwiches. I venmo her $10 for the trouble. ($10)
8:30 PM - We go to bed. It has been a hell of a day and we are exhausted.
Daily total - $10
Day 6 - Sunday
9:00 AM - K, M, and I slowly wake up and relax around the house for a bit. We ultimately decide we should go get brunch.
10:30 AM - We get to a local brunch place. Unsurprisingly, it is packed. We are told the wait is about 45 minutes, which is fine by us. This would be the case at any brunch place on the Sunday after game day, and we are not in a rush. We hang out and chat in the parking lot until they eventually call our name. Yay!
11:30 AM - We are seated and I order a water with lemon. We talk for a while and then put in our orders. I get a ridiculous loaded potato skillet that is basically hashbrowns with scrambled eggs, cheese, bacon, and sour cream on top. It was freakin phenomenal. It was also really cheap considering how huge it is. I forgot how awesome living in a college town was in terms of budgeting. $16.13 with tip
12:30 PM - We drop K back off at her house and say our goodbyes. We have to get on the road or we will be home super late. I give her my love and thank her for letting us stay.
5:00 PM - We make it home. Another long day in the car after a long weekend means that we are both pretty tired. I heat up a frozen dinner we have in the freezer and we have that on the couch while we watch some TV. Our kitties are clearly quite happy to see us as they pretty much immediately hop on our respective laps when we sit down. We talk about how fun the weekend was while we pet our babies.
8:00 PM - I shower and get ready for bed. I also Venmo M for gas for the weekend ($30).
9:00 PM - Time to sleep. What a weekend. :)
Daily total - $46.13
Day 7 - Monday
7:30 AM - I am a little sluggish this morning but I wake up eventually. I do my normal morning routine and get ready. Mondays are always tough, haha.
8:30 AM - I’m already feeling better as I smell my morning coffee! I sit down and get to work on some open tasks I have. I email a few clients to see if anyone is available to meet this week. Something I really enjoy about my job is that I am given the freedom to build and maintain relationships with my clients. I get to take them out to lunch and spend time with them frequently which is enjoyable and also good for business.
12:30 PM - Time for lunch! I make myself a sandwich using the last of my supplies and I heat up a quinoa soup that I got last week. I typically go grocery shopping on Monday evenings so all of my supplies are running low.
2:00 PM - I’m back in the office. I take a few phone calls, respond to a few emails, and before I know it the day is over! My friend G texts and asks if she can come over at around 7ish for a movie. She still lives with her parents so we almost always hang out at my place (although her parents are super cool!)
4:30 PM - On my way home, I drive to Publix. I pick up 2 things of chicken breasts since they are BOGO, three bags of frozen broccoli, two premade salad mixes, a premade meal kit (the parmesan crusted chicken bites are to die for), two sweet potatoes, lemonade, chips and mango salsa, taco shells, and some cat litter. $74.52, but I split with M so ($37.26)
5:30 PM - I get home and ask M to unload the groceries while I run to the neighborhood gym for a quick 30 minute jog. He happily complies. I let him know that G will be coming over at 7.
6:15 PM - When I get back, I see that M has started dinner for us and he even made enough for G! He is grilling some chicken with the electric grill we have and he is roasting some sweet potatoes.
6:45 PM - G arrives and we talk about our days. We catch up on what we did over the weekend - she was in Seattle visiting some family. We see that Titanic is on Hulu live so we just decide to watch that. We each have a glass of wine and some snacks and enjoy the movie.
9:15 PM - G heads home, and M and I start to get ready for bed.
Daily total - $37.26
Weekly Total: $218.73
Thoughts
The week itself were pretty standard. I wasn’t quite as social as normal - we usually go out with friends at least once during the week, but we didn’t want to do too much on weekdays since we knew we were going up to Gainesville for plenty of festivities. The weekend was out of the norm in that I honestly did not spend nearly as much as I thought I would, and also because I don’t get to tailgate every weekend (unfortunately). I’m not at all surprised that I spent most of my weekly money on food, lol. Overall this was a fun exercise!

2018.09.16 00:43 GNVFA2222 27[M4F][North-Central Florida] Looking for dating or something casual

Based in Gainesville.
PM me and we can exchange pics.
5'6" ~140 lbs Moderately fit, I can do about a dozen pullups and run a 30-minute 5k in good weather. I look pretty fit with clothes on, and apart from a large scar on my stomach not too bad with clothes off either. My face seems to be fairly attractive and I do alright on dating apps. Just a fair amount of social awkwardness and lack of experience seems to be a big hurdle. Think I might manage to meet someone on the apps if I keep at it, but I wanted to see if someone here might work. It would be nice to meet someone who knows my relationship situation from the start and won't be scared off when they find out. Have kissed before, but not gone any further.
About me: I enjoy cooking and baking. I like to get out hiking when the weather isn't too brutally hot. I also enjoy working out and running. Love movies(old classics, award winning dramas, massive blockbusters, I just really love film in general), TV, video games, anime, music, books. I live by myself, have a great job, a really awesome cat, my own car, and am generally doing well in life apart from with relationships.
I was very non-social for most of my life and since moving here a bit over a year ago have been getting out and meeting people a lot more. I've made some good friends and made decent inroads in online dating, but still struggle with the whole dating process and really finding a connection.
Looking for: Not very particular. Not too overweight but I don't mind and even like that on some girls, but other than that I'm not very picky. I don't care if you're taller than me or shorter than me, if you're a brain surgeon or a fry cook, white or black, open to meeting someone and seeing where things go. Honestly more interested in actual dating, but open to some sort of hookup type situation as well. Really more interested in physical intimacy like watching a movie while cuddling, but would like to get the virginity over with as well.

2016.11.21 08:42 clearliquidclearjar WEEKLY EVENTS 11/21 – 11/28

GSF is over, I’m back, did you miss me? I’m sorry pickings are a little slim this week, but it’s the holidays. A few quick notes about new bars: it looks like the older, hippyish live music crowd have a new hangout at the Blue Tavern on North Monroe where Midtown Speakeasy used to be. I assume they’ve cleaned the bathroom. Folks like Bill “The Sauce Boss” Wharton and Jon “I Don’t Think He Has a Nickname” Copps appear to be jamming there. Beer, wine, coffee.
And on the other side of the music scene, the bar formerly known as St. Mikes is back as The Wilbury. The Pies Guys bought it and remade it. Stronger, faster, less smoky. The place was hopping at Gaines St Fest. Stage, bar bowling, pool tables, darts. Full bar. And a really nice patio out back complete with a little trailer kitchen slinging bbq (jackfruit for the veg heads) and the best fried pickles I’ve ever had. So that should be pretty damn cool.

2016.10.17 12:08 clearliquidclearjar WEEKLY EVENTS 10/17 – 10/24

Holy shit, am I busy or what? Gaines Street Fest 6 is fast on the way and I’m to my neck in it. Trivia needs to be written, this event page has to be maintained, and it’s my buddy’s birthday tomorrow so I just made a karaoke video for a song from a local band so we can sing it tomorrow night at 926 Bar & Grill. But hey, idle hands are the devil’s playground, right? (Except that I’m pretty sure that saying is about masturbation.) So let’s see what the future holds this week!
It’s FAMU Homecoming and here is the list of events. By the way, the parade is amazing.
